This is an initiative by Google , in particularly under the chrome Experiments. It is a platfomr for simple visualization for geographic data. This is however dependent on WebGL and is available only in browsers that are WebGL-Enabled.
The above image shows the Google searches made through out the globe based on the language. The globe can be easily traversed . The bars quantify the searches and the color helps in distinguishing the languages.
This a platform and can be used for various such needs.
