Reaction: The value of Information Visualization

A simple and a neat paper which make us (made me) think about the following things.

What is the need of visualizations?

What is the future of this field?

Do I really like visualizations? If so, what are my chances to be a web visualization engineer?

Is this field profitable?

Should I continue this course?

Thoughts apart. I have a question.

Since there are huge number of datasets to explore with different parameters, we move away from the standard visualizations (Bargraph, piechart, treemap,...) to analyse data more quickly. As a result, millions of different visualizations will be developed. With this, wont it be too hard for a normal web user to understand how different visualizations work and how data is represented in each visualization?
