We were only asked to read the first part of this article and I thought that section had a good introduction to some of the issues that I had been confused about while reading the other articles. However, because this article was so much newer it was difficult sometimes to connect the concepts and terminology between the papers. I think that when this article is talking about direct techniques, they are referring to the same things that the "A survery of Algorithms" referred to as DVR, but I'm not positive.
It was interesting to take this article and look back at the other three articles I had read and try to use it to decipher the other articles, or use the other articles to decipher this one. I'm hoping that discussing it in class will give me more of an insight into how exactly all of these articles fit together.
