Reaction: Task Taxonomy for Graph Visualization

The paper is an attempt to define a list of tasks for graph visualization. Graph Visualizations are widely used in the field of Information Visualization. This paper tries to show how all complex tasks are seen as a series of low level tasks.

The author has started off by explaining the basic components of graphs like the node, the links and graphs. The low level tasks can be classified into Topology Based Tasks, Attribute Based Tasks, Browsing Tasks and Overview tasks. The examples provided in each of this classification is very easy to understand and makes the understanding of these classifications all the more clearer. However the paper lacked details about the research behind coming up with the various types of low level tasks. Overall, it is a good read for novices.
