Developed by the New York Times , the Article Search API can retrieve headlines, abstracts, lead paragraphs, links to associated multimedia and other article metadata. One of the most interesting things about this API is that it provides faceted searching along with standard keyword searching. For example, facets such as sections, taxonomic classifiers and controlled vocabulary terms.
The data includes the article which is definitely the building block of the New York times. But the special thing to notice is that it also includes over 35 searchable fields associated with the data. ( Publish date, Organization name, Thumbnail image). This helps reduce ambiguity between identical words which have different meanings in different contexts.
