Reactions:Graphical Perception: Theory, Experimentation and the Application to the Development of Graphical Models

This paper is an early attempt by authors to setup scientific foundation for graphical Perception.Authors have tried to achieve it through theory and experiments they conducted.Authors have presented Theory of Perpetual Task, where they have proposed 10 perpetual task(ex size, area , curvature). Later on paper displayed how different charts extract quantitative information. It then orders these elementary task based on accuracy and tries to support it through experiment.

I like authors attempt to create a process for graph creation and get difference in steps performed in various tasks(to achieve graph creation).I also feel that ordering of elementary task (on basis of accuracy) seem to be very useful for graph but may not appear worthy in reality. Moreover I am agreement with author conclusion that if we move to new techniques of graphics then we must move to new procedure.
