To start with the information visualization has mainly two components which are representation and interaction. In this paper, the authors argue that over the years the representation part has been given a lot of priority and importance but the interaction part has not. The gist of the paper is that the authors want to bring to the audience that interaction is also of the same worth as the representation and without interaction the representation would be incomplete i.e. these both things complement each other.
Moving on, the authors in their research have come up with seven different types of categories for interaction. These seven categories which include Select, Explore, Connect, Reconfigure etc have been presented in a same manner as the previous paper which makes sense. First you read about what this interaction category means and then you visualize it with an apt example so as to understand it clearly.
After reading this paper I think that by categorizing the interactions it would be really very useful to build the web visualization and design the interaction based on user intent. this paper can be seen as some kind of a framework to use for interaction in information visualization.
